DANNY O’BRIEN CLAIMS THRILLING MOHAWK OPENER By Tim Baltz - May 12, 2012
In
the 358 Modifieds defending track champion Chris Raabe and Danny
O’Brien started on the front row in the 40 lap affair with Raabe
getting the early lead going into turn number 1. It didn’t take long
for the first caution to come out as Carey Terrance broke a front end on
the front stretch. On the restart Raabe was able to grab the lead but
Danny O’Brien had a game plan and worked the outside part of the
speedway to grab the lead away on lap 5 with Raabe, Dale Planck, Roy

NY – The much anticipated start to the 2012 racing season is almost
here as Mohawk International Raceway will open Friday night with a full
racing program presented by Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.
The night will be highlighted by a 40 lap, 358 Modified main
event, paying $2000 to win and will also feature a full show of
Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Mod Lites and Bandits. It
will be an exciting season at Mohawk International Raceway, with the
return of most of the top drivers from 2011, and the addition of several
past champions from other tracks running all season at MIR in 2012.
There will be many new faces in the Sportsman division this year
as well, and the Pro Stock and Mod Lite classes also appear to be in
great shape for the start of the new season. Pits
and Grandstand area will open on Friday night at 5:00pm.
General Admission on opening night is just $15, and pit admission
is $23 with DIRTcar license and $25 without.
The first heat race of the evening will be on the track at

NY – Opening night for the 2012 racing season at the Mohawk
International Raceway was set to roll with a great track surface and a
great field of cars in the pits on Akwesasne Mohawk Casino night. A
great crowd turned out on this evening and they witnessed one of if not
the most exciting finish in MIR history.
